How this calculator works
The calculator uses the standard ROI formula:
ROI (%) = (Revenue − Total cost) ÷ Total cost × 100- Total cost = campaign cost + platform cost.
- Estimated conversions = emails sent × conversion rate. If you enter actual conversions, we use those instead.
- Revenue = conversions × average order value.
- Break-even conversions = total cost ÷ average order value, rounded up to a whole order.
Assumptions to keep in mind
- Revenue, not margin. The calculator uses order revenue. If your product costs money to make or ship, subtract those costs (or enter your average profit per order instead of AOV) for a truer picture.
- Attribution is messy. Some buyers would have purchased anyway, and some buy days later on another device. Treat the result as an estimate, not an audit.
- Your time counts. If you write the email yourself, consider adding the value of your hours to the campaign cost.
- ROI is undefined at $0 cost. If you enter no costs, we show revenue and profit but leave ROI blank instead of showing an infinite number.
A quick example
You send 10,000 emails, 0.5% of them turn into an order (50 orders), and the average order is $40. That's $2,000 in revenue. With $250 in total cost, profit is $1,750 and ROI is 700%. You'd need just 7 orders to break even — a break-even conversion rate of 0.07%.

FAQ
Should I use emails sent or emails delivered?
Delivered is more accurate because bounced emails can't convert. If your platform only shows "sent," that's fine — just be consistent from campaign to campaign.
What's the difference between ROI and ROAS?
ROAS is revenue ÷ cost (for example, 8×). ROI subtracts cost first, so the same campaign has an ROI of 700%. Both are useful; just don't mix them up when comparing channels.
